Our curriculum

Pearson-accredited, with a pathway to university

As a Pearson-accredited institution, we offer the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE programme, a qualification recognised globally for its rigour and academic value. Pearson describes International GCSEs as qualifications designed for international and UK learners, equivalent to UK GCSE standards.

Our vision is further strengthened by our collaboration with Sunway University, which reflects our belief that education should lead to meaningful opportunity. Together, these foundations position Pelican Grammar School as a school of distinction in Timor-Leste.

Exploration for self-discovery and purpose

Six questions every PGS student explores

Every part of our curriculum is a stepping stone for students to identify their passions and confidently define their own path in life.

Am I global?

Our school champions diversity and inclusion by nurturing multilingual capabilities. Students can study Mandarin, guided by the YCT (Youth Chinese Test) and HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) curriculum.

We provide robust support for English language acquisition through EAL (English as an Additional Language), and through cultural studies students explore countries across Asia and Europe.

Am I digital?

We recognise the importance of digital literacy and computing skills in today’s world. Digital Literacy is a key element for all year groups, and students learn with Chromebooks.

Am I creative?

Arts and music foster artistic expression and imagination within our curriculum. We offer instrumental learning alongside creative work, so students can explore their artistic talents.

Am I balanced?

A diverse range of sports gives students a platform to develop physical skills, sportsmanship and teamwork.

Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED) in the Early Years lays the foundation for emotional resilience, social competence and well-being.

Am I scientific?

Hands-on experiments, critical thinking exercises and engaging mathematical challenges nurture curiosity and sharpen problem-solving skills.

Am I sustainable?

Social, Economic and Environment (SEE) principles are woven into all subjects, with Global Perspectives and TED Talks building research, writing, analysis and communication skills. Secondary students also attend Life Skills classes to put SEE into practice.

Beyond the classroom

Enrichment & co-curricular programmes

From arts and sports to community service and leadership initiatives, our programmes cater to a diverse range of passions, so every child can discover themselves and build on their talents.
